Reports to: Director of Emergency Management and Safety
Primary Purpose
To support the Department of Emergency Management and Safety with maintaining the Emergency Operations Plan (EOP), assisting with district training and exercising, conducting and analyzing audits and inspections, managing inventory and equipment disbursement, and performing a wide range of on and off-site administrative work. Work is performed under the supervision of the Director of Emergency Management and Safety, and the ability to maintain confidentiality and composure in high-stress situations is critical.
Qualifications:
Education/Certification
High school diploma or GED
Incident Command System (ICS) certification (100-400) is preferred
Special Knowledge/Skills
Effective communication and interpersonal skills
Ability to work in high stress environments while maintaining tact and diplomacy
Ability to read, write and follow instructions
Possess a good driving record
High proficiency in use of technology (i.e. data entry, advanced software platforms, electronic reporting, cell phone and radio use, troubleshooting of hardware and various systems and software)
Organization and task prioritization
Ability to perform physical tasks
Ability to think critically and creatively
Ability to work independently and with a team
Ability to evaluate, analyze and make recommendations
Ability to maintain confidentiality and ensure compliance
Experience
K-12 experience is preferred
Life safety or emergency management experience is preferred

*Courses offered by the Texas School Safety Center and must be completed within one year of hiring.
Major Responsibilities and Duties:

- Track district threat assessments, ensure compliance, and manage teams.
- Train district on emergency response procedures and protocols.
- Train with district mission and response partners throughout the year.
- Notify the Director of Emergency Management and Safety of major safety infractions.
- Organize and participate in professional development and department/district meetings.
- Understand and enforce district policies and procedures.
- Demonstrate integrity and ethics.
- Utilize time wisely.
- Maintain punctuality and a professional appearance.
- Maintain a positive and professional tone in all communication.
- Regular and reliable attendance is an essential job function.
- Perform other duties as assigned by Director of Emergency Management and Safety.
