The primary purpose of the Dispatcher Clerk is to assist in coordinating assignments and schedules for school bus drivers and attendants in the Transportation Department to ensure safe, efficient and economical transportation services. The Transportation Dispatch Clerk is responsible for frequent, effective and clear communication to all members in the Transportation Department, as well as members of Texas City ISD community. This position will also perform a wide variety of clerical work including typing, recording data information and will help prepare student information related to the Transportation Department.
Assist with assignments of bus drivers, bus monitors, bus routes, vehicles and substitutes for morning and afternoon shifts
- Dispatch buses in a timely manner
- Assign available buses
- Ensure all routes are covered
- Respond to after duty hour school bus transportation emergencies
- Respond quickly to emergencies, breakdowns, accidents and no shows
Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- Valid Texas Commercial Driver License with “S” and “P” endorsements preferred
- Texas Department of Public Safety (TXDPS) School Bus Driver Certification preferred
- Acceptable driving record as defined by TXDPS
- Ability to pass the DOT Physical Examination
- Texas Association for Pupil Transportation (TAPT) certification (or ability to obtain)
- Proficient typing, word processing,data entry and filling maintenance orders
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to organize and direct the actions of others
Experience: Two years prior experience as a school bus driver and previous dispatching experience is preferred. |
